October 3-6 SoftArtisans at the Microsoft SharePoint Conference 2011, Anaheim, CA
The Microsoft SharePoint Conference 2011 is certainly a testament to the software’s status as reigning champ of enterprise collaboration world. 12,000 attendees. 240 sessions taught by SharePoint’s creators and prominent evangelists (Paul Swider, Spencer Harbar, Todd Klindt, Becky Isserman…). Four hours to roam free in Disneyland. 5,000 free Windows 8-loaded tablets*. Private parties galore, including our own on Monday night at Haven Gastropub (email me for details).  From Sunday through Thursday, the SoftArtisans crew will be manning booth 630. Our goal: to educate all of you who struggle with analyzing list data about how OfficeWriter’s SharePoint integration works. If you or anyone you know has a need for generating publishable Word and Excel reports based on SharePoint data and integrating them into your business workflows, we’d love to talk to you. (If you don’t, we’d still love to talk to you. We’re talkers.) We’re also bowing to the swag gods and giving away a brand-new BlackBerry Playbook. To put your name in the hat, just stop by the booth. And if the Convention Center starts to feel a little… conventional, we’re happy to meet with you off-site for private demos or general business discussions—feel free to reach out to @officewriter, @softartisans, @clairedwillett or @bcjonesey to set something up.

Cheers and see you in sunny Anaheim!

If you have some downtime between sessions, please stop by booth 320 to hang out/bust some moves/ ogle some schmancy SharePoint-to-Office reports with us. Also, if you're a developer, admin or BI analyst, you should definitely check out Ben's two sessions on custom workflow actions and advanced document processing with OfficeWriter in SharePoint.

July 13, 2011 Andrew Brust reviews OfficeWriter
Visual Studio Magazine columnist and Blue Badge Insights CEO Andrew Brust on OfficeWriter's use as a developer tool, as a BI tool with Excel and as a data-driven document and presentation tool with Word. "Whether you're embedding reports in applications, or allowing end-user authoring and execution, using Excel and Word as the output format is just plain smart. So why not have a common toolset for both kinds of reporting?"
